The Long Debrief
The Long Debrief is a long-form conversation podcast hosted by a combat veteran, former law enforcement officer, and psychology student. Each episode sits down with people who’ve been through something — survivors, veterans, former extremists, first responders — and explores what it actually takes to come out the other side changed. No quick answers. Just honest debriefs.

The radio crackled back to life. 5272, you’re clear. Back in service. A little girl was safe. Her father was in custody. The report would be filed.
And I was back in service. Like nothing had happened.
Nobody sat me down afterward. Nobody asked how I was doing. The institution processed the incident and asked me to keep moving. For a long time, I did.
This is the first episode of The Long Debrief — a solo essay about the moment that started all of it. About what institutions do with the things that happen to you. About what it costs to keep moving. And about why, eventually, I stopped.
No guests. No quick answers. Just the debrief that nobody offered me.
